Ten years have passed.
Released between the years 1999 and 2000, the Power Mac G4 was a state-of-the-art personal computer - especially in creative areas.
The G4 processor enabled users to run optimized applications blazingly fast. Even games ran very well on this machine. Before Bungie was acquired by Microsoft they presented "Halo" on G4 machines.
Ever noticed that the Gamecube, Wii, Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 use successors of the G4 CPU? Somehow crazy what happened in the IT industry This particular machine once had a 450 MHz CPU and was upgraded with 2x 500 MHz CPUs form which each of the CPU has 1 Megabyte of Level 2 Cache (which was - at that time - very much).
Many modifications (in terms of hardware) could also be done to this machine. It uses a standard "PC" GeForce 2 MX graphics card which was flashed to work in a Mac. Also the PSU is standard ATX, so you can use almost any ATX PSU.
I am still using this machine for fun. Installed Mac OS 9.2, 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5. Nice showcase for old operating systems.
